At a special meeting of the Planning Board held on February 28, Paul Phillips, the Township Planner, presented a proposed Amendment to the Township’s Master Plan, which would incorporate a new Housing Element and Fair Share Plan intended to move Millburn to compliance with the evolving Affordable Housing requirements. The Amendment identifies land in the township which may, now or in the future, be available for development or re-development to accommodate affordable housing and facilitates the ability for these areas to accommodate such affordable housing by recommending overlay zoning to permit increased density residential development in return for mandating the inclusion of an affordable housing set-aside. The Amendment is currently being reviewed by the Planning Board and is available in its current form on the Planning Board area of the municipal web site, along with the current Master Plan documents. It is anticipated that the Amendment will be formally voted on at a public hearing to be held as early as April 4, 2018. The Planning Board invites public comment on the proposed Amendment at its regularly scheduled meetings.
