Update 4/19: Collection of Herbaceous Waste Following Winter Storm Quinn

Update: 4/19

Collections were delayed due to flooding earlier this week. DPW is currently collecting herbaceous waste in Zone 3. Zone 6 will be addressed once Zone 3 is completed.

Update: 4/10

DPW has completed collections in Zone 4. Zone 1 is anticipated to be completed tomorrow, April 11. Crews are moving into Zone 3, and will finish with Zone 6 thereafter.

Update: 4/9

Zones 2 and 5 are done. Once Zone 4 is completed, which is anticipated for the middle of the week, DPW will then shift to Zone 1. Zones 3 and 6 will follow.

The Township of Millburn is providing an update on the collection of herbaceous waste following Winter Storm Quinn.  The Department of Public Works continues to address debris produced from Township trees and “hangers”, those branches that are broken and still suspended in the trees.  As of March 28th the Department of Public Works will have completed curbside collections of brush in recycling zones 2 and 5. The next zone to be addressed is Zone 4 with 1, 3, and 6 to follow.   Please remember the following as cleanup efforts continue:

  • All collections will end on April 27th, 2018.  Normal herbaceous waste pickup will then continue on your first garbage collection day of the week until October 31st.
  • Public Works is only collecting brush.  Logs and tree trunks will not be accepted.
  • Only arranged piles will be collected
  • Brush must be cut into manageable lengths, generally 3 feet, to be collected
  • Brush can be no larger than 6 inches in diameter
  • Anything that is cut up by a contractor/landscaper should be disposed of by a contractor/landscaper
  • Residents can drop off brush at the Public Works Yard, Weekdays 8:30am – 2:30pm and Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm (no trucks allowed)
  • After Public Works finishes with a zone, it will not return for subsequent collections except normal herbaceous waste as prescribed in the Public Works Pamphlet

The Township is aware of the amount of debris that was generated during Winter Storm Quinn. We will not haul normal spring cleanups by private landscapers. For any questions regarding herbaceous waste collections please call 973-564-7060. Thank you for your cooperation with this process.
