LOCAL ASSISTANCE BOARD (Title 44) Public Assistance for needy people who meet eligibility requirements is administered by the Local Assistance Board, as set forth in Title 44 of the state statutes. The board is composed of five people, one of whom must be a woman. Four members are appointed for four-year terms and one (1) Township Committee member for one (1) year term by the Mayor with advice and consent of the Township Committee. The Local Assistance Board meets four (4) times a year on dates selected at the January organization meeting.
