Senior Bus
The Senior Bus is currently running on a regular schedule of four days per week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Riders must wear a face mask when on the bus. While the driver may have extra masks, there is no guarantee. Please plan accordingly.
Contact Information
Please call 973-564-7076 between 7:00 am and 8:15 am at least one day before needing a ride. If you are calling during these hours and there is no answer, please hang up and try again. The driver could be on the other line. There is no provision for leaving a message at this number.
Hours
The Senior Bus provides free service to township residents:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
- Thursday: 8:30 am to 12:00 pm
General Information
Residents 62 and over may call for transportation within the township boundaries to medical appointments, grocery shopping, library, meetings and activities. Passengers must be able to board and leave the bus without assistance. The bus does have lift capability. An aide is permitted to ride with a disabled individual to assist with entering and exiting the vehicle. The bus is available for activities conducted throughout town unless it is oversubscribed or the safety of the passengers is in question. To avoid delays, passengers are not permitted to change or add to their itinerary once on the bus.
Regularly Scheduled Shopping Trips outside of Millburn Township*
- Livingston Mall: 1st Friday of the month
- Short Hills Mall: 2nd Wednesday of the month
- Whole Foods/Target: Last Wednesday of the month
*Subject to change due to holiday schedule.
Delay
If you are waiting for the senior bus and it is very delayed, please call the Millburn Town Hall customer service number at 973-564-7097. Customer Service will know if the bus has had a breakdown or if another serious problem has occurred.
As a safety precaution, passengers on the senior bus must use their seat belts. Please buckle up. It’s the law!
Medical Transportation
The following agencies provide medical transportation to senior and disabled township residents. Note: All agencies need at least 2 days notice prior to the appointment; other restrictions may apply.
Access Link New Jersey Transit
Access Link provides transportation throughout New Jersey to people unable to use the local fixed route bus. A fee will be charged. In order to use Access Link, you must apply for eligibility by calling 1-800-955-2321.
EZ Ride
Provides transportation services for commuters, older adults, and people with reduced mobility. For more information, please call 866-208-1307, Option 4 or visit the Ryde 4 Life website or print out the registration form (PDF).
Metro Transport
Limited medical transportation available to those individuals who qualify for the program. Contact 973-325-1359 for additional information.
New Jersey Transit
Individuals at the age of 62 or older qualify for fare reductions on New Jersey Transit trains and buses. To participate in the reduced fare program, show a valid Medicare card or a reduced fare identification card to the conductor or bus driver. If you do not have a Medicare card, reduced fare applications are available from the Customer Service Office in Millburn Town Hall or call them at 973-564-7097.
