Food Waste Recycling Pilot

The Township of Millburn, in conjunction with the Millburn Environmental Commission, is offering a Food Waste Recycling pilot program!

The Food Waste Recycling Pilot began in February 2021 with 50 households. Participants are enrolled on a 6 month basis and after paying a $50 registration fee, received a 5 gallon pail and a set of compostable bags. Working with Java's Compost, based in West Orange, participants will bring their food waste to the Millburn Town Yard, located behind the Department of Public Works building, where it will be collected weekly and brought to a composting site in Andover, NJ.

Applicants interested in joining the program, can email the Recycling Coordinator. Residents will pay a non-refundable fee of $50 to participate. You will receive additional information on how to complete payment upon submitting your interest form. Training will be provided to participants as part of the program. If the program reaches capacity, we will maintain a waitlist for additional interested participants.

Please note that any residents already working with Java’s Compost will be ineligible for the program.
