With the 20th anniversary of September 11th, 2001 occurring this year, the Township of Millburn has commissioned a memorial designed by artist Sarah Langsam. The memorial will serve as a dedication to the 412 first responders and 8 Millburn Township residents who lost their lives that day and all those impacted. Steel pieces retrieved from the World Trade Center, in the Township’s possession, will be the focal element of this memorial at Crescent Park, adjacent to the Short Hills Train Station.
The pamphlet contains a narrative from Bill Pollock about his experience, news clippings involving Township personnel following the event, a narrative from artist Sarah Langsam, as well as photographs of the Millburn Police and Fire Departments response to the disaster and the steel beams today that will be incorporated into the memorial.
The Township of Millburn is raising funds for a Memorial to both remember and commemorate those of our townspeople who perished on 9/11 as well as to honor the courageous contributions of our first responders at Ground Zero in New York City twenty years ago.
