MILLBURN TOWNSHIP (May 26, 2023) – The Township of Millburn and the Millburn Planning Board announce the public outreach campaign of the update to the Open Space & Recreation Plan Element of the Township’s Master Plan.
The Planning Board, at their meeting on May 3, 2023, established a committee to lead the Open Space & Recreation Plan Element Update and requested the committee solicit feedback from the public and a wide variety of stakeholders, ranging from recreation to environmental and preservation. The Planning Board Committee members include Planning Board Vice Chair Gaston Haupert, Planning Board member Mayor Maggee Miggins, and Planning Board member Debra Nevas.
Over the next two months, the Township and its planning consultant, Topology, will lead a robust public outreach campaign, offering multiple online and in-person paths for residents and stakeholders within the community to share their priorities for open space and recreation within the Township of Millburn.
First, an online public survey offers residents a direct opportunity to provide input on their and their families’ interactions with open space and recreation in the Township and comment on those areas and programs in need of improvement. The survey is open for responses through July 31, 2023 and available at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/866ZVDQ
Second, the Township will sponsor a weekend, daytime public information session in Taylor Park at the Bauer Community Center on Saturday June 3, 2023, from 10am to 12pm.
Third, an information session will be held at Millburn High School on Wednesday June 7, 2023, during the school’s lunch period.
Finally, a second evening public information session will be held on Monday June 12, 2023, from 7pm to 9pm at Millburn Town Hall.
Representatives from Topology will staff all public sessions to review the Open Space and Recreation Plan Element with residents, receive public comments, and provide answers to any questions.
Beyond these information sessions and survey approaches, residents may also provide any comments, questions, or feedback directly to letusknow@millburntwp.org
Last updated in 1991, the Open Space & Recreation Plan Element will provide the Township with information to evaluate opportunities to add open space to the community and present a community-based vision for the allocation of resources to open space and recreation priorities.
