This is a reminder that on September 18, 2023, the township is requiring all commercial businesses contract privately for the collection of garbage and recycling. This includes, but is not limited to, institutions such as houses of worship and associated facilities, non-profits and private educational facilities. These businesses must identify their garbage and waste receptacles with a label of the private hauler utilized. Additionally, businesses must provide the Recycling Coordinator with a document showing the hauler contracted to collect garbage and recycling from the premises, such as an invoice or service contract, by September 18, 2023.
Waste and recycling items may not be placed on the curb more than 12 hours prior to the scheduled pick up and must be removed within three hours of pick up. Materials set out for collection cannot obstruct the drainage system. All bags of trash and recyclables put out for pick up must be contained within a can or bin that is clearly labelled with the name of the collection hauler.
For information relating to the explanation of the change in operations, explanation of procedural changes at the Township level, and additional examples of requirements by building type, view the letter dated May 22, 2023, which can be found on the township website under Public Works Department & Services, Sanitation section.
