11/12 Update: The Library Turf Field is scheduled for a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, November 16.
The Millburn Recreation Department has announced the official opening of the Library Turf Field on Saturday, November 16. The Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Athletes representing each sport that will be played on the field as well as Township and Board of Education Officials will be included in the ceremony. Cookies and cider will be served to attendees from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In addition to a ribbon cutting ceremony, there are a number of sporting events scheduled for the day.

- 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Junior Lacrosse
- 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. Recreation 1st & 2nd grade soccer
- 11:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
- 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. Recreation 1st & 2nd grade soccer
- 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Recreation Field Hockey
- 2:15 – 4:30 p.m. Millburn Soccer Club

Please note that the Library is open on Saturday, November 16. We as that attendees do not park in the Library spaces and instead park in the Commuter section of the Library Lot #9, in the Millburn Train Station Commuter Lot # 7 or behind the Millburn Middle School and use the pedestrian bridge to get to the Library Field.
Original Message: Starting on or about Tuesday, September 24 the Township of Millburn will begin installation of a synthetic turf field behind the Millburn Free Public Library at 200 Glen Avenue.
Weather permitting, the project is expected to run daily through mid-December. Please be advised that weekend work may occur during this project; advance notice will be given to residents in the case of weekend scheduling.
The first phase of the project will include temporary fencing installation, soil erosion control, demolition of the current field, soil re-location and land survey. Land grading and balancing, turf installation, curb work and fencing installation will occur in phase two.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Friday, September 27th, at 9:00am to officially kick off the project. The public is invited to attend.
