1. Can I park my car overnight?

As per the Township Ordinance there is no overnight parking on any street or in any lot from 2:00am to 6:00am. The only exception would be for the 24 hour permit holders. This permit is issued to Township residents in Millburn or Short Hills who rent apartments and are not provided a parking space. This permit is never issued to residents for the convenience of parking overnight on occasion.

2. What do I do if I need to park my car overnight?

1. Residents with commuter permits who cannot make it back to town on occasion are required to call the police desk (973)564-7001 and request special permission to leave the car in the lot.

2. Residents without a permit who park in the train lots on a weekend and are “stranded” in the city are required to do the same.

3. I am having construction done on my driveway and need to park on the street, what do I do?

Residents who are having work done such as paving a driveway are required to go to the Traffic Department at the Police Station and request permission to park on their street for that time frame.

4. What if I have a guest/visitors staying overnight/for a long period of time?

Residents who are having an overnight guest for up to three nights should call the desk (973) 564-7001 and request permission to park on their street for that time frame.

Any residents who have long term visitors are required to go to the Traffic Department at the police station and log the visitor information.

5. If I am not a resident, where can I park for the train?

Millburn does not have any non resident day parking for the trains. Summit and Maplewood offer day parking for the public.The City of Summit offers both long term non resident commuter permits and overnight options.
